Public Comment Portal — User Guide

Overview

The Public Comment Portal lets you view H-GAC RTP2050 projects on an interactive map and submit public feedback. No account or sign-in is required.

Language Selection

The portal supports eight languages in addition to English. Click the 🌎 Language dropdown in the top-right corner of the page and select your preferred language. The page will translate automatically using Google Translate.

Browsing Projects

Search — Type a project name, agency, or jurisdiction in the search box to filter the list.
Project Type filter — Use the dropdown next to the search box to show only projects of a specific type.
Project list — Click any project card to open its detail panel with sponsor, location, cost, and description. The map zooms to the selected project.
Map — Projects are drawn on the map in their actual location. Click any project shape or pin to open its detail panel. On mobile, use the Map tab at the bottom to switch between the list and the map.
Published comments — Approved public comments appear at the bottom of each project's detail panel.
All Projects — Click the ← All Projects button to return to the full list. The map will zoom back out to show all projects.

Map Pins & Project Type Legend

Line and polygon projects display a color-coded center pin on the map so they are easy to spot even when zoomed out. Each color represents a project type:

New Roadways

Road Widening

Major Roadway Reconstruction

Major Intersection / Interchanges

Access Management

Transportation Operations / ITS

Regional Air Quality Programs

Active Transportation Facilities

Transit & Freight (Flexible Funds)

Other

A live legend showing only the types present in the current data appears in the bottom-right corner of the map. The pins and legend hide when you select a project and reappear when you return to the full list.

Submitting a Comment

Select a project from the list or map.
Scroll down in the detail panel to the Share Your Opinion form.
Fill in the fields and click Submit Public Comment.

Name	Your name or organization. Shown with your published comment.	Optional
Email	For H-GAC follow-up only — never displayed publicly.	Optional
I am a…	Your relationship to the project area (resident, business owner, commuter, etc.).	Optional
ZIP Codes	Residential and/or workplace ZIP code — helps H-GAC understand who is affected by the project.	Optional
How do you travel here?	Select all travel modes that apply (Drive, Walk, Bicycle, Transit, Truck, Other).	Optional
Stance	Your position on the project: Strongly Support, Support, Neutral, Oppose, or Strongly Oppose.	Optional
Comment	Your written feedback (minimum 10 characters, up to 2,000 characters).	Required
Photo	Attach an optional photo (JPG, PNG, or HEIC — max 10 MB). Shown with your published comment if approved.	Optional

Submitted comments are not immediately visible. H-GAC staff review each comment before it is published. You will not receive an automated confirmation email.

Comment Review Process

Pending — Newly submitted; under review and not yet visible to the public.
Published — Reviewed and approved by H-GAC staff; visible in the project's detail panel.
Rejected — Did not meet comment guidelines; will not be published.

Published comments can be "agreed with" using the I agree button. Each visitor can agree with a comment once.
